Cricket practice for kids 8–16

The same day one as every sport on Homefield: a week built for your child’s age, a rest day the app will not remove, a timer, and a log in your own words.

No payment details. The Player Card is optional and does not unlock practice.

3 skill · 1 conditioning · 1 game · 2 rest

A parent can move a rest day. The app cannot remove one.

Game means drills at game speed. A real game or team practice counts as the day when you mark it.

You set how many days a week before the first session. The app keeps a rest day unless you choose seven.

Gear

Bat, ball, cones — and a phone, for the timer and the log.

What a session looks like

The same for every sport on Homefield.

  1. Today. The day’s session: 30, 45 or 60 minutes, your choice.
  2. The timer. The drills for that day, and your own additions.
  3. The log. In your own words. Nothing scores it.

What age does to this week

Age caps the load. Level sets the complexity.

For Cricket, the app applies ECB Fast Bowling Directives (England and Wales Cricket Board, junior cricket regulations). It caps training days a week by age; this week has five.

  • Ages 8–12: up to 6 training daysThis week is within it.
  • Ages 13–14: up to 6 training daysThis week is within it.
  • Ages 15–16: up to 6 training daysThis week is within it.

What the Player Card checks

Optional, and skipping it never locks practice. It takes 5–11 minutes. One camera session per fortnight, per household, and the camera never opens during an ordinary practice.

The check films Stance and Straight drive. For Cricket the card can show a band — in words, never a number — once five takes of the check are filmed. The first check, at sport pick, shows no band.

No change in a band is shown as improvement until the measurement noise floor has been measured, and it has not been yet. We would rather say that than quietly imply otherwise.

Start with this week, not with a test.
